Why did THAT person come through in my reading?

A question that sometimes comes to me from people who receive readings goes something a little like this:

​"Why does my troubled or abusive loved one come through all the time when I don't really want to speak to them? I had enough of them being the way they were when they were alive. How do I keep them away so that I can heal?"

Other ways it's asked is: "Why does this person who hurt me so much or ruined my life, want to come through when I don't want to talk to them at all? What makes them think I want to hear from them after all they did to me?"

These types of questions are troubling for both the client and the Medium. But it is important not to avoid the presence of the spirit just to make the reading a more pleasant experience.

Leaving such questions unanswered is not helpful or healing to the grieving. The Medium owes it to their client, themselves and most especially to the intelligence of the Spirit world to make every effort to help regardless of the uncomfortable nature of the situation.

The Spirit world never presents itself to harm, haunt or frighten us. They come to add clarity, understanding and comfort to the living - especially those who are suffering.

To grasp the fullest picture possible of why infinite intelligence works in such mysterious ways, I feel it's best to approach this type of quandary from several different perspectives.

​The Agenda of the Soul is Greater

Sometimes our worst enemy, or most hurtful love, or most difficult personality to deal with, in this life, is absolutely the most beneficial spirit to come forward and be identified by the medium with evidence.

It does not mean the one we want contact with most desperately is not there. In fact, they are. But why do these 'unwanted' people sometimes come through before those we really care for?

Why do they come in before that husband, that wife, the parent, the child that we miss so dearly?

Because the agenda of the soul is greater. Those who died well or who lived a respectable life, may step back and in their great love for you, they may let healing begin.

Mediumship is Healing

Hearing from a difficult person is one of the reasons why we call mediumship healing.

It is healing because when those we had great difficulty with in this life step into our reading - even those we thought were in H-E-double hockey sticks - we no longer need the concept of a burning hell.

Or we may now be able to see a person who is struggling. Someone who is hoping to be better in the life beyond. Better now that they see the errors of the past and the sicknesses they endured themselves in life.

This is the beauty of the spirit world. This is the beauty of the intelligence that I have felt come through in many, many readings over the years.

​When You Heal, Your Loved Ones Can Come Closer

We can be so caught up in our anger and our resentment that letting go and moving to a place of forgiveness is no easy feat. The heaviness of our anger and our pain can sometimes even create an obstacle for those we love on the other side to touch in with us.

​But for those who find the courage to open their hearts, there is true transformation. 

I've watched people who come for readings release those fears, those angers, those resentments of the past that they were dragging around like garbage in their life.

I've watched them free themselves of all of that.

​And with that release, they are freer to perceive Spirit's true presence. There is now room in their heart to say "Hello" to their spirit loved ones. They now have room to sit in the quiet and feel the joy of their presence.

​Or Perhaps They are Seeking Their Own Reformation

I am a Spiritualist. Spiritualists believe that the doorway to reformation is never closed to the here or the hereafter. And that means everyone... every soul, every spirit... even those who were not so loving in this lifetime are given the chance to change and become better...to reform.

But without the arms to embrace you and the voice to say how sorry they are for the pain they caused it is difficult to reach you.

Thus the gift and blessings of mediumship to make it possible to reach through and make that communication possible. So that they can tell you, "Now I see it differently. Now, I am a person of peace. I am no longer the tyrant, the manipulator, the liar you once knew. Now that I'm in the Spirit World, I have a greater understanding of the world and how it works, and why I need to cherish my soul...and yours."

You May Need a Teacher, an Ally, a Helper

Another reason 'THAT' person may come through for you is they now have greater potential to help you.

From the spirit world and a new paradigm they now have a new perspective. And in that world of souls, they now see the reason for how and why they lived. How their actions have hurt or effected the lives of others around them.

Perhaps there is a lesson in their life's misgivings they want to pass on. 

Sometimes these spirits can be the best ones to call upon and get the greatest help from. For who better, now that they've seen the struggles of their life clearly and know the pathways to peace. 

You have both shared something horrible, something terrible. It may have been just been a bad relationship or the vilest of acts. But now, they've become more of an advocate and a friend. Something much stronger in the spirit world.

Now, this person comes through to help...to heal.

Not to hurt. Not to haunt. Not to taunt. But to uplift the soul. To uplift the spirit. To help you to see the light and be the light in your own life.

If THAT Person Comes, What Gift is Spirit Giving You?

Many readings are short - 15 minutes to half an hour. Or maybe even just a short snippet at a demonstration. Readings do not always give sufficient time to unfold and bring through all those who love you and have concern for you from the other side.

But they do seem to bring us what we need even if we are not ready to hear it.

So the next time somebody obscure comes through and you're hearing from a neighbor or a friend or somebody that just doesn't make any sense, step back for a moment. Ask yourself what was that relationship? How did that work? And what is there to learn from it?

​They are in fact, offering a chance to connect. To tell you that they are OK. They are letting you know, in no uncertain terms that they still exist and that they care about you. They are all really coming through to prove one thing and that is the ultimate message of all...

We are alive. We don't die. And you are so very much loved.
