 It's October. Some dread it, because winter is closing in. Others love it, because it's the height of football season. For the mediums and lightworkers though, it seems to be a new “Super Holiday”, reminding all of us of continued life and the promise of more.  Are there not enough souls at Halloween?Of course, many will state that Halloween has become over commercialized. It is sneaking up on Christmas as one of the more popular and tchotchke-filled holidays…filled with decorations and a vast array of paraphernalia to thrill. People really do go all out for the spooky effects, I guess. As elaborate as the costumes, decorations, blow up lawn creatures, sound gimmicks and fog machines go, this honored Druid celebration - turned quasi Christian day - has come to be recognized as a loud celebration rather than a reverent day of those who have passed on. I still hold on to the fun…the fantasies…the smiles of children. I also ponder the sweet questions it raises for so many about our eventual demise. So, open up a candy bar filled with that popular poison - sugar, and bear with my words for a moment, in hopes that it might illuminate a few mystics out there, of the beauty and power of this All Soul's Day.
Halloween is a time of year when over 2,000 years ago, Celtic people thought the ghosts of those who had passed on would come and level the crops. It was believed that they would play havoc on the fields and trees with the coming winds of Winter. It was a season of destruction and cold promise of long, dark days. It represented a leveling of the old and a promise of a new life beyond the freeze. A new life (Vita Nova) to come. A new spring filled with new hopes and new beauty.
The shock and awe of our own mortality will also spark our hearts to not take this life for granted, so that we are encouraged to live this life well! It is imperative we take off the mask of fears. That we be true to our own souls and show the sweet kindness of compassion, commonsense and oneness along our path, aligned with God's will, not ours. The veil may be thin during these October days of All Hallows Eve. Or perhaps we just notice spirit more because we are reminded of our continued journey and evolution of our own soul. So, for October, I would just ask all of you: No tricks. Stay sincere…honest with yourself and your spirit…and the treats of Heaven will be yours in time. Peace Joe© 2019-2020 Joseph P.
