There is something meaningful about reaching a new stage in any journey.
At the beginning, so much of our attention is devoted to discovery. We are noticing what is possible, learning to recognize unfamiliar experiences, and wondering whether we can trust what we perceive. Each moment of connection can feel like an answer to the question, Is this real? Eventually, however, another question begins to emerge: How do I remain in relationship with this connection? This is where discovery begins to deepen into practice - not because we have mastered what came before, but because we are ready to meet it with greater awareness, consistency, and care. The Difference Between Finding and Deepening During Phase I of the Evidential Mediumship Unfoldment Program, we explored the foundations of connection, awareness, trust, and discernment. We considered the relationship between our own awareness and our communication with Spirit. These foundations matter. Yet foundations are not places where we stop. They are what allow us to continue. As we move more deeply into mediumship, the work begins to change. We are no longer concerned only with recognizing that a connection is present. We begin asking how we might sustain it, understand it, and allow it to develop without forcing it to become something it is not. This is a subtle but important shift. A connection may arrive in a moment. A relationship is formed through returning. What Does the Connection Move Through? We sometimes imagine spirit communication as something happening outside us - as though Spirit speaks and we simply receive the message. My experience has led me to see something more nuanced. The connection may come from Spirit, but our experience of it moves through our own mind, emotions, and body. Each of these plays a role in how we perceive, interpret, and express what we receive.
And through it all, we are learning to trust the intelligence of Spirit while remaining aware of ourselves. I do not see these human influences as flaws we must eliminate. They are part of the instrument through which the connection is expressed. The invitation is not to become empty of ourselves, but to understand ourselves well enough to recognize what belongs to us and what may be arriving through the connection. Mediumship as a Mirror As mediumship deepens, it often reveals more than our ability to communicate with Spirit. It begins reflecting our inner landscape back to us. We may notice how quickly we doubt ourselves when information is not immediately understood. We may recognize a desire to be right, a fear of disappointing someone, or a tendency to fill silence because uncertainty feels uncomfortable. None of this necessarily means we are doing something wrong. Perhaps these moments are showing us where our mediumship and our humanity meet. The work can invite us to become more aware of how we respond to uncertainty.
Greater awareness does not guarantee that every communication will be clear. It may, however, help us recognize what is happening within us while the connection unfolds. That recognition can create room for greater discernment, honesty, and trust. From Receiving Information to Holding It Responsibly There is another shift that occurs as our relationship with mediumship develops. The question is no longer simply, What am I receiving? It also becomes, How am I holding, interpreting, and sharing what I receive? Mediumship often brings us into tender moments. We may sit with someone’s grief, hope, uncertainty, or love. The information matters, but so does the manner in which we communicate it. This is where development begins to ask something more of us - not perfection, but responsibility. We begin considering the kind of medium we wish to become. We notice:
For me, responsibility is not a burden placed upon the connection. It is part of honoring the connection. As our trust grows, so can our sincerity, compassion, and respect for the people and Spirit loved ones we serve. There Is No Single Starting Point Phase II is called Deepening of Connection, but deepening does not mean that everyone must arrive at the same "level."
You do not need to have completed Phase I to participate in Phase II. I believe we can honor the place where we are beginning without comparing it with where someone else appears to be. Development is not a race toward a particular "level." It is an unfolding relationship, and each of us enters that relationship with different experiences, sensitivities, questions, and ways of perceiving. What matters is not whether our starting point looks impressive. What matters is our willingness to meet it honestly. Learning Alongside Others Phase II will be a live experience because there is something valuable about practicing and exploring alongside other people. We learn through our own experiences, but we also learn by witnessing how differently awareness moves through each person. We hear questions we may not have thought to ask. We practice with one another in breakout sessions. We receive feedback, encounter uncertainty together, and discover that trust is not always built privately or all at once. Over 12 weeks, we will explore how Spirit, mind, emotions, and body work together within mediumistic communication. We will focus on:
The intention is not to make everyone’s mediumship look the same. It is to help each person recognize and develop the natural way the connection works through them. The Journey Continues Phase I is moving toward completion, and enrollment for its live experience has closed. Its foundational teachings will soon be available on demand, creating another way to begin and explore the material at your own pace. Phase II offers the next opportunity to experience the program live. If you have been wondering whether you discovered this journey too late, you have not. You may begin with the Phase I foundations when the on-demand experience becomes available, or you may step directly into Phase II and continue from where you are now. Perhaps the next stage is not about moving farther ahead. Perhaps it is about becoming more present to the relationship already beginning to form. Phase II Details Phase II: Deepening of Connection is a 12-week, live online experience beginning Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Classes are approximately 90 minutes to two hours, and recordings will remain available for one year. You may enroll in Phase II individually for $499 or reserve your place in Phases II–IV for $1,247, a savings of $250 compared with enrolling in the three phases separately. ✨ You can learn more about Phase II and the complete schedule here. 🌿 You can discover more about each phase and sign up for the rest of the full journey at a discounted rate here. A Question to Consider What might become possible if you stopped asking whether your connection was good enough and became curious about the relationship it is inviting you to develop? Joe’s Closing Thought I do not believe deepening means rushing beyond where we are. Sometimes it means remaining with what we have already discovered long enough for trust, understanding, and responsibility to grow around it. The journey continues each time we return to the connection with greater honesty and care. Thank you. Peace, Joe
